The Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Bowers CIS) seeks a strategic fundraiser to join us as the Associate Director of Development. As a member of our high-performing team, you will generate philanthropy to support the aspirations of the College. Established in 2020, Bowers CIS is in a high growth period, fueled by staggering enrollment expansion. Your work will contribute to our efforts to secure Cornell University’s excellence in research, teaching and innovation through the Campaign for Cornell

In this position, you work collaboratively with the Associate Dean to direct daily operations and efficiently allocate resources, foster strategic academic partnerships serving as the primary liaison with campus leaders, and manage a portfolio, including known prospect and those new to philanthropy to achieve campaign goals.

Key Highlights:

Operational Leadership: Direct day-to-day operations, collaborating with the Associate Dean to deploy resources effectively, shape strategic partnerships, and seize opportunities that align with program and campaign objectives.

Liaison with Academic Partners: Act as the primary campus-based leader of the Bowers CIS AAD, regularly representing the Associate Dean within the College and AAD organizational structures.

Fundraising Portfolio Management: Design, implement, and support the campaign fundraising volunteer structure. Shape a campaign committee, manage a prospect pool of 100-120 households, and cultivate philanthropic partnerships for major gifts.

Stewardship Excellence: Oversee the stewardship of major and principal gifts, including the design of a naming opportunity program for the new building.

Staff Management: manage the Bowers CIS AAD team, based in Ithaca, NY, empowering the team to foster connections and generate philanthropy.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.

Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Interest in and understanding of information age disciplines, computing, information and data science is a plus.

ability to manage within a highly complex and dynamic organization
