  • Sandy Springs Elementary School principal Laryn Nelson made an appearance on the TV show “Wheel of Fortune” Wednesday night. • On Sep. 26, Sandy Springs is hosting an open house at city hall to discuss proposed updates to the city’s development code. The public is invited to attend the event at 6:00 p.m. to learn about the proposed changes and provide feedback. These updates to the development code are part of the city’s comprehensive plan, and the proposals will be presented to the Planning Commission in November for their recommendation to the city council. Public comments can also be submitted online between Sep. 26 and Oct. 13, or at later meetings in November and December. (Rough Draft Atlanta)
  • The Sandy Springs City Council recently approved a contract with Lose Design to design and manage the construction of a 23-acre park on the Chattahoochee River’s banks, marking the culmination of years of community efforts and planning. The park, located off Old Riverside Drive, will feature nature trails, river observation areas, play facilities, and green infrastructure while maintaining a passive and natural ambiance. The project is estimated to cost around $5 million, with $500,000 allocated for Lose Design’s services, and funding options will be evaluated during the eight to nine-month design phase.
