ZIMMER, Robert

Robert “Bob” Philip Zimmer of Atlanta Georgia was born on September 21, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He handed away peacefully on January 29, 2024, of pure causes. Bob was 85 years of age.

He was predeceased by his father, Edward Joseph Zimmer; his mom, Aline Heltz Zimmer; and his solely sister, Evelyn Marie Simon. He’s survived by his loving spouse of virtually 60 years, Martha Ann Flanders; his six youngsters: Robert Philip Zimmer, Jr. (Angie); Edward Joseph Zimmer (Doreen); Katherine Claire Neri (Michael); David Manning Zimmer (Cristina); Margery Ann Warfield (Lee) and Martha Patricia White (Hugh); and his 17 grandchildren.

Bob grew up in Norco, Louisiana, the place his father labored for the Shell Oil Refinery, operated a poultry farm and a cellular residence park. Bob attended Jesuit Excessive College then went on to the College of Notre Dame the place he graduated in 1960 with a level in electrical engineering. He continued his schooling, transferring to New York the place he each met his spouse Martha and acquired a graduate diploma in electrical engineering from Cornell College. They had been married on September 5, 1964, in New Orleans and moved to Dunedin Florida the place he took a place with Sperry Microwave. In September, 1965, they moved to Atlanta. Bob started working as a Analysis Engineer for the Engineering Experiment Station at Georgia Tech (now Georgia Tech Analysis Institute) within the areas of digital warfare and countermeasure techniques. He took the chance to acquire one other Grasp’s diploma in Industrial Administration in 1970. He labored 52 years at Georgia Tech, serving to develop the analysis, improvement and design within the digital protection discipline. Amongst his achievements had been the founding of the Atlanta Peachtree Roost, the native chapter of the Affiliation of Previous Crows. He was awarded “The Pioneers Award” and the “Lifetime Service Award” from the Nationwide Affiliation of Previous Crows.

Bob was a member of the IHM Catholic Church for over 50 years. He beloved working with the Catholic College Board and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. His biggest love was his spouse and 6 youngsters. His hobbies included tennis, basketball, music, bridge and attending grandchildren sporting occasions.

A Visitation might be held on Thursday, February 1 from 6:00 PM to eight:00 PM adopted by a Rosary, at Patterson Oglethorpe, 4550 Peachtree Highway, Atlanta, GA 30319. The Catholic Funeral Mass might be on Friday, February 2 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Coronary heart of Mary Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations could also be made to the IHM St. Vincent de Paul Society, 2855 Briarcliff Highway, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
